The lab and your photos

What exactly does the lab see?

Three things. The photo itself — re-encoded on the phone first, so EXIF, GPS and every other tag are gone before it leaves. The film you chose, so the right chemistry runs. And an anonymous device identity — a cryptographic key your iPhone creates, with no name, email or phone number behind it.

That's the whole picture. No location, no captions, no contacts, no photo library. Originals and finished prints are deleted from the lab within 24 hours; what remains is bookkeeping — which film, when, whether it worked — kept up to 365 days so balances stay honest. The privacy policy has the full accounting.

Why does developing need a lab at all?

The simulation is the heavy kind — dye diffusion, optics and paper texture computed at full print resolution with the complete film profiles. The lab renders that in seconds, and every develop comes out the same whatever iPhone you shoot on. The wait was always part of instant film anyway.

A develop failed — did I lose the shot?

No. A failed develop never costs a shot — it goes back on your balance, and you can develop again on a fresh roll. If a print looks wrong rather than failed, redevelop it through any film on your plan.

Can I develop the same photo again?

Yes. Open any print and develop it again — same original, a different film if you like, a fresh run of chemistry either way. It spends one shot, like any develop.

Location and captions

Why does the app ask for location, and where does it go?

To put the place on the print: each shot pins to a map with its place name, the way a shoebox photo has a where-and-when scribbled on the back. With Apple Intelligence, the place can also flavor caption ideas.

The coordinates and place name are stored inside the shot's record on your iPhone and nowhere else — they are never uploaded to the lab. Turning coordinates into a place name uses Apple's Maps service from your phone, under Apple's terms.

What if I say no to location?

Everything still works — photos develop, captions write, nothing nags. Prints simply carry no map pin or place name. You can change your mind either way in iOS Settings.

Do captions or caption ideas leave the phone?

Only inside the prints you save or share. Captions live in the shot's record on your iPhone; the lab never receives them. Caption ideas are generated on the phone by Apple Intelligence — the words, and the reading of the photo behind them, never touch our servers.

Film and payments

Pack shots and subscription shots — what's the difference?

Subscription shots load monthly — 30 on Plus, 120 on Pro — and reset on your billing date; unused ones don't roll over. Pack shots are shelf stock: buy 8 or 16, they stack, and they never expire. Packs work with or without a subscription.

The app always spends the expiring film first — the free daily shot, then subscription shots — and leaves packs for last, so paid packs are the last thing touched.

I got a new iPhone — where's my film?

Balances follow your App Store purchases. On the new phone, open the film shop and tap Restore purchases. Your subscription and remaining pack shots move to this phone. Free daily shots are per-phone.

Prints are a different matter: they deliberately stay out of iCloud and computer backups, so they don't transfer with the phone. Save the ones you care about to Photos before you switch.

How do refunds work?

Apple handles payments, so refunds go through Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com covers packs and subscriptions. We can't move money — Apple can.

How do I cancel a subscription?

App Store → your profile → Subscriptions, or in IntegralCam: film shop → Manage subscription. Film from the current period stays until it resets.

Your data and the app

If I delete the app, what happens to my photos?

The prints live only inside the app, and they deliberately stay out of iCloud and computer backups — so deleting the app deletes them. Anything you saved to Photos is yours and stays. The lab has nothing to lose on its side: originals and prints there are already gone within 24 hours of developing.

If you reinstall later, the app starts over with a fresh anonymous identity; Restore purchases brings back your subscription and unspent pack shots. Short version: save the prints you care about to Photos first.

How do I delete my data?

Settings → Delete account inside the app erases photos, balances and the device identity. No email, effective immediately. Details in the privacy policy.

Which iPhones work?

An iPhone running iOS 26 or later. Caption ideas also need Apple Intelligence (iOS 27).
